Religious Orders
Some women and men feel called to follow Christ as members of communities which profess the evangelical vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. Such religious communities include the Benedictines, Dominicans, Franciscans, and Jesuits among many others. These "Sisters", "Brothers", and "Fathers" (the ordained "Brothers") serve those in need in many places and in many ways: chaplains in hospitals, professors in seminaries and universities, spiritual directors at retreat houses, helpers in soup kitchens, caregivers in hospitals and hospices, the list goes on and on. Christ is incarnate as a healing hand, a giving heart, a shoulder to cry on, an intellect to engage, a wise soul to learn from, a forgiving voice, a loving gaze. Honor and thank these selfless women and men with a gift that symbolizes their love, their commitment and their discipleship.
