This statue of Our Lady of Advent is a most exquisite depiction of a pregnant Mary. Mary is indeed the very symbol of Advent, the season of prayerful preparation and hopeful, excited expectation. This statue will be the perfect addition to your favorite chapel. It will also be an unforgettable gift for a wedding, a wedding anniversary, and, of course, Mother’s Day!
Our Lady of Advent – A Selfless Labor of Love, hope, and Faith
This statue of Our Lady of Advent stands 20.5 inches tall and wonderfully fashioned from a composite of dolomite stone and resin. The cloistered nuns conceived, created, and then finished by hand each and every statue which comes through their atelier in their monastery in France. Each nun, as her exercise of contemplation in action, prayerfully completes a designated task necessary to the finishing each and every piece. How, by whom, how, and where every statue and statuette is made guarantees that the statue of Our Lady of Advent is indeed ”culturally authentic” as well as a most selfless labor of love, hope and faith!
Our Lady of Advent – Icon of God’s “Womb-Love”
The Our Lady of Advent awaits in prayerful anticipation the birth of the child growing insider her womb. She loves her unborn child with the fierce and intense love which only mothers (expectant and actual) experience: “Womb-love.” Mary’s love for her unborn baby is the love that every mother has for her own child, and the same fierce, maternal love which God has for God’s people. The Hebrew word rachamim (רחמים – the plural of רָ֫חֶם – rechem, meaning “womb”) – translated as “bowels, tender mercies, love, and pity” – is the intense, literally visceral “womb-love” which a mother has for the child she is nurturing (or has nurtured) in her womb. When used in reference to God, rachamim speaks of God’s “womb-love” par excellence for God’s people: “Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you” (Isaiah 49:15).
