Latin for the five wounds of Christ, the Quinque Vulnera Christi Pendant depicts somewhat abstractly the five holy wounds of the Crucified Christ, four in his hands and feet (the blue enamel ovals) and one in his side (red enamel square at center). This bronze pendant with red and blue enamel inlay is a most fitting gift for a birthday, first communion, confirmation, and graduation. The Quinque Vulnera Christi Pendant is a gift of true heirloom quality to be treasured and passed on from generation to generation!
A Bronze Pendant with the Five Holy Wounds of Christ
1.75 inches in length, the Quinque Vulnera Christi Pendant has an eyelet and ring at the top to allow for easy wear as a pendant. This pendant was conceived, executed, and hand-finished in an artisanal workshop in France. Indeed a most meaningful gift for that special someone in your life who means so much to you!
The Five Holy Wounds of Christ
The rejuvenation of religious life through the zeal of St. Bernard of Clairvaux and St. Francis of Assisi in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, along with the enthusiasm of many Crusaders returning from the Holy Land lead to an increase in devotion towards the Passion of Jesus Christ and in particular to the Five Holy Wounds inflicted on Jesus during his Passion. The Jerusalem Cross or Crusaders’ Cross recalls the Five Holy Wounds of Christ through its five crosses. The flag of the nation of Georgia still depicts a version of the Jerusalem cross. Some mystics, including St. Francis of Assisi and Padre Pio, received the Stigmata, the Five Holy Wounds of Christ, in their mystical union with Christ in his Passion.
