Product Description

This is our beautiful Saint Barbara of Nicomedia Plaque. Saint Barbara of Nicomedia (died c. 235) was said to have been so beautiful that her father locked her away in a tower for years to remove her from the many ardent suitors not to his liking. Her father also wanted to prevent her from constantly helping the poor. She is depicted on this plaque holding the tower of her imprisonment. This plaque is a great gift for first communion, confirmation, birthdays, and the feast day of St. Barbara on December 4th.

A Solid Bronze Plaque in Three Sizes

Available in three sizes – small (p75k – 2 x 1.8 inches), medium (p62m – 4 x 3.25 inches) and large (p18g – 7.75 x 6.4 inches), this solid bronze plaque can be hung with ease on any wall in home or office. This solid bronze plaque was designed and realized by a master goldsmith of world renown in Germany. This plaque  is an ideal gift for that special “Barbara” in your life!

Saint Barbara – Victim of Abuse and Martyr of the Faith

While Saint Barbara may never have actually existed, the story of her life is the story of many girls and young women down through the ages who have been abused and victimized by their own fathers. In Barbara’s case, legend has it that after she converted to Christianity (symbolized on this plaque by the bread and chalice), her pagan father denounced her to the local authorities and had her abducted, tortured, and beheaded. The sword of her martyrdom is depicted on this plaque. Her feast day is December 4th.
