This solid bronze plaque was conceived and cast in Germany by a bronze-smith or world renown. This is an especially suitable gift for that special “Francis Xavier” in your life!

Saint Francis Xavier, S.J. – Patron Saint of Missionaries

This plaque depicts St. Francis Xavier (in German, Franz Xaver) evangelizing in Asia. On December 3, 1552 – just as he was preparing to enter and evangelize the “Middle Kingdom” of China – he died on Shangchuan Island, less than 9 miles from the mainland. The right forearm of St. Francis Xavier (with which he baptized 300,000 people) is preserved as a relic above the altar in the right transept of the Church of the Gesù, the “mother church” of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in Rome. St. Francis Xavier is (along with St. Therese of Lisieux) the patron saint of missionaries.
