Product Description

This solid bronze Saint Joseph with Child Jesus Figurine depicts Saint Joseph of Nazareth with the Child Jesus. This is a great gift for Father’s Day, a birthday, a confirmation, or as a gift to celebrate St. Joseph’s feast day on March 19th. This is the perfect gift for that special Joseph or Josephina in your life! This little figurine makes a wonderful Christmas stocking stuffer as well.

A Solid Bronze Figure

This statuette of Saint Joseph with the child Jesus stands 3.2 inches high. This piece was conceived and cast in bronze in a monastic workshop and foundry in Germany.

At Mary’s side in the Holy Family of Nazareth stands the figure of Saint Joseph. Through his work and generous presence, he cared for and defended Mary and Jesus, delivering them from the violence of the unjust by bringing them to Egypt. The Gospel presents Joseph as a just man, hard-working and strong. But he also shows great tenderness, which is not a mark of the weak but of those who are genuinely strong, fully aware of reality and ready to love and serve in humility. That is why he was proclaimed custodian of the universal Church. He too can teach us how to show care; he can inspire us to work with generosity and tenderness in protecting this world which God has entrusted to us.
-Pope Francis, Laudato si, 2015

The Patron Saint of Blue Collar Workers

Jesus was the “Son of David” because Joseph was of Davidic lineage (Matthew 1:1-17). Joseph, the “artisan, craftsman or carpenter” (tekton in Greek–Matthew 13:55), is depicted in this solid bronze plaque standing behind and imparting a paternal blessing on the Christ Child. Saint Joseph is, in fact, the original “blue collar worker.” In fact, St. Joseph is now the official patron saint of workers. On May 1st we celebrate the feast day of “St. Joseph the Worker.” This solid bronze figurine will be a meaningful gift for that worker in your life, be he father, husband son, or union member.

Selling Your House and Need Saint Joseph’s Help?

Saint Joseph as a “carpenter” is also the patron saint of  homes, and by a quite tenuous extension, of home sales. An intriguing tradition has developed in the last few decades whereby some Catholics (and others) have begun burying a small statue of Saint Joseph in the yard of the house they hope to sell. Once the house has solid, the statuette is dug up again and displayed prominently on a mantle or shelf in the seller’s new home. A quaint spiritual practice? A weird superstition? Something else? The Catholic Church has not taken an official position on this practice. Perhaps the Church is telling such home-sellers something like this: Practice your faith with joy and vigor. Deepen your devotion to Saint Joseph. Burying a statuette of Saint Joseph in your front yard might even be of some spiritual benefit, IF you understand that the act of burying the statue is not in itself of any significance, but rather YOUR act of seeking out the intercession of St. Joseph, the foster-father of Jesus who is Christ our Lord and Savior.

If you are going to try this practice, please, out of respect for Saint Joseph, purchase a statuette or figurine of him made of noble material (heirloom quality), not made in a sweatshop (just working conditions), and made where Saint Joseph is known and venerated (culturally authentic). It just so happens that the Saint Joseph with the Child Jesus figurine fits this bill perfectly! What better depiction of Saint Joseph to display prominently in your new home after the sale of your old home than one like this of real beauty, quality, and authenticity?
