A Solid Bronze Angel Forged in Germany
This solid bronze piece measures about 2 x 1.5 x .75 inches. As a heavy and durable material, bronze is exquisite when turned into pieces of art. It inspires truth and beauty and is considered one of the noble materials. This piece was conceived and cast in a foundry in Germany. This is a most fitting gift for all occasions and celebrates the mystery of angels within our lives.
God – being God – has no need of angels, guardian angels,or, for that matter, archangels or creatures of any sort. Yet God nevertheless deigns that they exist in creation. God has set angels in a most appropriate position in the hierarchy of being: angels exist below God but above human beings. Like God, angels, exist above human beings, since, like God, they are pure spirits unbounded by time and space in our universe. But angels, like human beings, do reason, imagine, and love. Like human beings they exit below God, since they do not enjoy the divine attributes of omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence. Saint Thomas Aquinas, the great Doctor Angelicus of the Church, envisions a hierarchy of heavenly creatures which are part of the great hierarchy of being: Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominations, Virtues, Powers, Principalities, Archangels, and Angels. While angels may be last in this heavenly hierarchy, they nevertheless are first in the hearts of many persons (especially children) who find comfort in their quiet and constant presence. As guardians and companions on our life journey, angels celebrate with us when we are joyful and comfort us when we are suffering and grieving.
