Product Description
In his classic book Orthodoxy, G.K. Chesterton opines: “Angels can fly because they can take themselves lightly.” So angels are not “gravity-challenged” – they are free of earth’s anchor to soar through the celestial heights. The wings of the angel intimate the spiritual freedom for which we are created and to which we are all called. This solid bronze depiction of the gloriously winged Angel of World Peace is a most meaningful gift for any person, young or old, and for most any occasion, from a birthday to a funeral, from a baptism to a housewarming, from a confirmation to a wedding, and many other occasions as well.

Angels – Last in the Hierarchy, First in Many a Child’s Heart
God, of course, does not need angels, or archangels, or guardian angels, angels of any sort, or anything else, for that matter. God is all-powerful, all-present, and all-knowing! Yet God wants angels in creation and so God has assigned them a most unique position in the great hierarchy of being: below God but “above” human beings. Angels are above human beings, since they, like God, are pure spirits who live beyond the spatial and temporal dimensions of our universe. Angels are Like humans, angels can reason, love, and imagine – but, with human beings, they are below God, since they are not, as God is, omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient. The great “Angelic Doctor” of the Church, Saint Thomas Aquinas argued for an angelic hierarchy within the great hierarchy of being: Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominations, Virtues, Powers, Principalities, Archangels, and Angels. Angels come last, then, in this theological hierarchy. But in the minds of hearts of many, especially children, they come first! Children will often seek their protection before the terrors of the night and the dangers of the day: Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God’s love commits me here. Ever this day/night be at my side to light, to guard, to rule and guide. Amen.
