For Carl Jung, the labyrinth symbolized the unconscious and its mazes, with one entrance (birth) and one center (the divine). The labyrinth also appears in various cultures throughout the world and throughout history, including in Egypt and Native American cultures.
In all cases, the fundamental draw of labyrinths is the way in which they represent the winding path of our search for wisdom and God. For example, for one walking in a labyrinth, the route may seem random and hodgepodge. But one is always being pushed along by the hand of design toward the center of the labyrinth. So it is with our own personal journeys toward God. Some of us take windier paths than others, and though the path may seem random (or we may seem lost) at times, the design of life, and the pull of God, is such that whoever seeks him in good faith will indeed find him.
