Product Description
The Second Joyful Mystery – The Visitation plaque depicts the events of Luke 1:39-56, a most remarkable encounter, so intimately familial and yet of such great import for the human race: Mary, pregnant with the Messiah, travels to visit her cousin Elizabeth, pregnant with the herald of the Messiah. This dolomite plaque of the Visitation is a vivid depiction of this amazing encounter between two very pregnant women, whose unborn sons will change human history forever. The Visitation plaque – along with all 19 of the other Mysteries of the Rosary plaques – is a beautiful gift for a convent, school, monastery, retreat house, chapel, or hospital.
The Visitation Plaque – An Impressive Labor of Love, Faith, and Hope
The Visitation Plaque measures 8.25 inches high, 6.75 inches wide, and 1 inch thick. It is designed to hang easily on any wall in office, home, school, or chapel. A community of cloistered religious sisters designed this, fashion it from dolomite stone and resin, and finish it by hand in the atelier of their monastery in France. Each sisters is a true contemplative in action who prayerfully completes a specific task required to bring each plaque to completion. How, where, and by whom the Visitation Plaque is made means that it is indeed profoundly ”culturally authentic” – and a most impressive labor of love, faith and hope!
Mary’s Subversive Song of Praise – The Magnificat
The Visitation seems like such an innocent and unassuming event: one pregnant woman visits her older, also pregnant cousin, now close to giving birth. But this event is laden with meaning and import. Still in the womb, John the Baptist leaps for joy when Jesus, also still in the womb, draws near. The baby’s kick elicit’s Elizabeth’s question to Mary. Mary, in response, sings the Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55) – undoubtedly the most subversive song of God’s praise in human history: The world and its values will be upended! The rulers, the rich, the proud, the rich are now rejected! The poor, the hungry, the humble are now lifted up! The Kingdom of God is near! No, it is already here, gestating, ready to be born…
