Product Description
The First Joyful Mystery is depicted in this white plaster cast of The Annunciation Plaque which vividly depicts the Archangel Gabriel greeting Mary and bringing to her the message that, if she consents, she will be the mother of the Messiah. Mary here is just moments away from responding to Gabriel with her history-changing Fiat: Yes! May it be done to me as you have said! This plaque will be a great gift for a wedding, a wedding anniversary, an ordination, a profession or jubilee of religious vows, and, of course, Mother’s Day!
The Annunciation Plaque – A Distinctive Labor of Love, Faith, and Hope
This Annunciation plaque stands 1.4 x 1.7 inches and is composed of white plaster. This edition is sold out, but we still have one available.
Mary’s Fiat – “Let it done to me as you have said”
Mary said “Yes!” But she could have said “No” or “Maybe” or “Not yet.” After all, she was, as a human being, endowed with freedom – and God respected her freedom just as God respects ours. Mary’s “immaculate conception” certainly meant that Mary was spared the adverse effects of “original sin” and was therefore naturally predisposed to obey God’s will freely and joyfully. But this natural predisposition surely does not mean that Mary was pre-programmed like an automaton. Real freedom means precisely that, the freedom to say “Yes,” but also the freedom to say “maybe,” or even “no.” Mary then shows us through her Fiat what human freedom looks like when it is lived and expressed most authentically.
