Description
The Our Lady of Seez Painted Statue depicts Mary enthroned as “Queen of Heaven” with her son Jesus seated on her lap. Jesus is holding in his right hand the globus cruciger (the “cross-bearing orb”), the symbol of his dominion over all of creation. This statue will be a most extraordinary addition to that special chapel which you hold so dear!
The Our Lady of Seez Painted Statue – A Selfless Labor of Love, Faith, and Hope
The Our Lady of Seez Painted Statue stands 26 inches tall. A community of French cloistered nuns conceive, hand-carve, and hand-finish every statue in their monastery’s atelier. The nuns are true “contemplatives in action” who prayerfully labor on and finish each and every statue. How, where, and by whom the Our Lady of Seez Painted Statue is made shows that this statue is indeed “culturally authentic” and a selfless labor of love, faith and hope!
Mary – Mother of God – Queen of Heaven
Mary is depicted here enthroned as the Regina Caeli, “Queen of Heaven.” But how can Mary be queen of anything, much less Queen of Heaven? Mary is the mother of the Messiah. Since Jesus is the Word made flesh, the Second Person of the Trinity incarnate, Mary is – as solemnly defined by the Council of Ephesus in 431 a.d. – the very Mother of God, the Theotokos. Catholics began to address Mary, the Mother of God, as she who is crowned “Queen of the Angels” and “Queen of Heaven.” Saint John Damascene asserts that Mary is not only Queen of Heaven, she is Queen of all of Creation: When she became Mother of the Creator, she truly became Queen of every creature.
