Product Description
Greek for “messenger” (ἄγγελος – ángelos), angels are messengers from God. They listen attentively to God and then whisper of God’s loving and intimate presence in our lives. “Angels can fly,” – as G.K. Chesterton writes in his classic work, Orthodoxy – “because they can take themselves lightly.” So then, free of earth’s anchor, angels can fly up to God with our prayers, and back down to us with God’s message of consolation. This solid bronze pocket prayer piece is a simple but meaningful gift for anyone, young or old, and for any occasion, from a baptism to an ordination, from a birthday to a funeral, from a first communion to a confirmation to a wedding, and for many other occasions as well.
A Solid Bronze Pocket Prayer Piece Forged in Germany
2.5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide, this solid bronze pocket prayer piece was conceived and forged in an art studio and foundry in Germany. This is a most fitting gift for the loved ones in your life to remind them of God’s (and your) love care and concern for them.
Why Do We Need Angels?
God, of course, does not need angels, archangels, guardian angels, or, for that matter, any other creature. Yet in the unfathomable mystery of God’s plan, God nevertheless wants angels to be! God assigns angels a most interesting position in the hierarchy of being: right above human beings and right below God. Angels, are, like God, above human beings, since they are pure spirits and therefore not limited by time and space in our universe. But angels, like human beings, cogitate, imagine, and love. Angels are below God, since they, like human beings, are not omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent. The “Angelic” Doctor of the Church, Saint Thomas Aquinas, presents a hierarchy of heavenly beings within the great hierarchy of being: Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominations, Virtues, Powers, Principalities, Archangels, and Angels. Angels are last in this heavenly hierarchy, but they are first in the hearts and minds of so very many in need (especially children). As guardians and companions with us on our journey through life, angels celebrate with us in times of joy and happiness, and comfort us in times of sorrow and suffering.
