This reminds us of the famous story of St. Christopher operating a ferry. In this legend, St. Christopher has been operating a ferry for quite some time to help people ford the river. A child asks Christopher to carry him across the river. Christopher agrees, but when he does so, he finds the child to be exceedingly heavy and barely makes it across the river. When he finally reaches the other side, he says to the child: “You have put me in the greatest danger. I do not think the whole world could have been as heavy on my shoulders as you were.” The child replies: “You had on your shoulders not only the whole world but Him who made it. I am Christ your king, whom you are serving by this work.” The child then vanished.
