Description
This cloisonné enamel on bronze wall cross depicts Saint Peter being himself: a jumble of faith and doubt. No sooner is he walking on the water to Jesus than he begins to waver in faith. This complex (and slightly amusing) man was a simple fisherman who became the first Pope and a martyr for his faith is Jesus. This cross is a most fitting gift for a significant birthday, occasion or event.
A Cloisonné Enamel on Bronze Cross
At 8.25 inches long and 6.5 inches wide, this cloisonné enamel on bronze cross will hang easily on any wall in the chapel, home, study, or office. Designed and carefully handfashioned in Germany by a master goldsmith, this cross expresses powerfully the wonderfully perplexing relationship between Jesus and Peter. Now deceased, the artist’s studio is still able to create this piece following the techniques and standards of the original artist. Such special orders can take 2-6 months. This is a truly unique gift for that truly unique and special “Saint Peter” in your life!
Saint Peter – What a mess!
What on earth did Jesus see in Saint Peter that he would call him from being a simple fisherman to become his chief “fisher of men”? Apparently, a lot – much more than meets the eye. Jesus saw Peter for who he truly was deep down. Yes, Peter was a man of strong faith who also could (and did) waver in his faith just as strongly. But no matter his faux pas, or stumble, or mistake, or sin, or even denial (three times!) of Jesus, he always came back! Because deep down he was “true blue.” Jesus knew this about Saint Peter, and he knows this about each and every one of us. No one of us can be reduced to our mistakes, imperfections, sins, addictions, and failures in life. Jesus looks deep down into each and every one of us and sees each of us for who we really, truly, most authentically are. And then He calls us to follow him.
