Saint Lawrence – Deacon and Martyr
Saint Lawrence is the patron saint of cooks and checks because, according to tradition, after presenting the sick and the poor to the prefect of Rome as the Church’s treasures, he was sentenced to die and was slowly grilled and roasted to death on a gridiron. He is even alleged to have said in the midst of his torments, “Turn me over! I’m done on this side!” This plaque is a great gift for celebrating his feast day on August 10th. A truly unique gift for first communion, confirmation, and birthdays.
