Product Description
The Come To Me Cross is forged from solid bronze in a foundry in Germany. This cross is designed to hang easily on any wall. Measuring almost 20 inches high and 18 inches wide, this cross will stand out and radiate these most comforting words of Christ: Come to Me. This cross is most fitting for a chapel and the public spaces in clinics, hospitals, hospices, schools and retreat centers.
A Solid Bronze Assurance of Christ’s Promise to Care For Us
The Come To Me Cross powerfully expresses Jesus’ invitation in Matthew 11:28-30:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
The spiraling center of the cross is a visual representation of the Mystagogy of Christ: ever deeper entrance and encounter into the Paschal Mystery of Christ.
But how does Jesus give us “rest”?
Anyone who comes to Jesus with their weariness and burdens knows better than anyone that one’s weariness and burdens do not just magically disappear. Jesus gives “rest” by filling the hearts of those who come to him with consolation, joy and resolve even in the midst of weariness, burdens, difficulties, and profound suffering. The weariness and burdens do not just float away. The difficulties and suffering do not just evaporate. Rather, Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit encounters, engages, and encourages those who come to him in the deepest recesses of their hearts, minds, and souls. To “rest” in Christ is to be filled with the Spirit’s indomitable energy and in this way to be energized: to keep putting one foot in front of the other; to keep getting out of bed in the morning; to keep on staying faithful to friends, family and loved ones; to keep striving – in spite of sin and setbacks – to become more and more one’s truest and best self; and to keep seeking after and thirsting for the Source of all joy, all rest, all contentment, all ultimate affirmation, and all definitive validation which is, in other words, Eternal Life itself.
