Virgin and Child, 17th Century Statue – An Extraordinary Labor of Love, Faith, and Hope
The Virgin and Child, 17th Century Statue stands 24 inches tall and is made a composite of dolomite stone and resin. A community of cloistered nuns create, fashion, and finish by hand this statue in the atelier of their monastery in France. Each nun is a true “contemplative in action” who prayerfully undertakes a specific task important for the completion of each statue. How, where, and by whom the Virgin and Child, 17th Century Statue is made is convincing proof that it is indeed ”culturally authentic” and an extraordinary labor of love, faith and hope.
Mary – “Queen of Heaven”?
Catholics believe that Mary was taken up or “assumed” into Heaven after her death. For Catholics, if Mary was assumed into Heaven as the Virgin Mother of Jesus, the Mother of God (Theotokos), she holds most fittingly a very honored place in Heaven indeed! So Catholics address her as the Virgin Mary, crowned “Queen of the Angels” and “Queen of Heaven.” Saint John Damascene wrote: When she became Mother of the Creator, she truly became Queen of every creature.
