Product Description
Our Communion in Christ Cross is a solid bronze depiction of the story of creation and salvation. This wall crucifix celebrates the Spirit’s saving and sanctifying work in our lives.
The Cross is the New Tree of Life. On the back of this crucifix (translated from the German): From the Tree of Paradise came Death, from the wood of the cross arose the New Life. Death was once victorious by the wood of the Tree of Paradise, but was vanquished by the wood of the cross through Christ.
A Wall Cross in Two Sizes
Available in two sizes—small (k23k – 3.5 x 3 inches) and large (k23g – 9 x 6.9 inches)—this solid bronze crucifix has an eyelet at the top to enable easy hanging on the wall at home or in the office. This crucifix was conceived and forged in Germany by a master bronzesmith of world renown and makes a wonderful birthday, baptism or ordination gift.
The History of Creation and Salvation Forged in Bronze
This wall crucifix is the history of creation and salvation forged in bronze. The Holy Spirit is at work from the beginning of creation in Genesis (depicted on the bottom of this crucifix as Adam and Eve at the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden) all the way through to the present day (depicted by the women and children on the left and the men at work on the right). The Crucified and Risen Christ recapitulates (sums up) in himself the entire history of salvation, humanity and all of creation. Christ redeems all of human history in his own life, suffering, death and resurrection on the cross, the new Tree of Life.
Translation: You, O God, have wrought the salvation of all on the wood of the cross. From the Tree of Paradise came Death, from the wood of the cross arose the New Life. Death was once victorious by the wood [of the Tree of Paradise], but was vanquished by the wood of the cross through Christ, our Lord and brother. Through Him the Angels praise Your glory, the Powers and Principalities worship You, and we join in with the Choir [of holy angels].
