Product Description
This solid bronze depiction of the Guardian Angel of Safeguard Figurine is a great gift for any child celebrating a birthday, baptism, first communion, confirmation, or Christmas (a great “stocking stuffer”!). In his classic book Orthodoxy, G.K. Chesterton writes that “Angels can fly because they can take themselves lightly.” Angels can fly but they also can exult, rejoice, praise, glorify, sing, and jubilate! But while angels are not gravity-challenged and are quite musically inclined, they have one more essential characteristic: Angels watch, guard and protect.
A Solid Bronze Figurine Forged in A German Monastery
This solid bronze figurine stands 2.9 inches tall. This piece was designed and forged in Germany in a monastery foundry. This is a most fitting gift for those special children in your life to remind them that God’s angels – and especially their own guardian angel – watch over them constantly.
Guardian Angel
The guiding text for guardian angels is Matthew 18:10: “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in Heaven always see the face of my Father in Heaven.” God does not need angels, or archangels, or guardian angels, or any other intermediary of any type, but God has created them and assigned them a specific place in the hierarchy of being: Angels exist between God and humans. Like God, angels are pure spirit and stand outside the physical limitations of time and space. Like humans, angles possess reason, love, and imagination, but lack God’s omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence. Saint Thomas Aquinas (the “Angelic Doctor”) ranked the angels from the highest to lowest: Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominations, Virtues, Powers, Principalities, Archangels, and Angels (including Guardian Angels). Guardian Angels may rank lowest among the angels, but they rank highest among the children who prayer for their protection and guidance. The traditional Catholic prayer to one’s guardian angel: Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God’s love commits me here. Ever this day/night be at my side to light, to guard, to rule and guide. Amen.
