The Messiah cannot be crucified and killed
A “Crucified Messiah” was an unimaginable and contradictory concept. The two disciples going to Emmaus were certainly of this belief. For they told their anonymous travel companion that “Jesus of Nazareth was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel” (Luke 24:19-24). ”We had hoped…” Clearly, they could not ever have imagined a messiah who could ever be humiliated, crucified, and killed. Their messiah was going to be a military leader who would destroy the Romans, liberate Israel, and inaugurate a new era of prosperity, justice and peace. In response, the Risen Jesus revealed himself to the two disciples in the breaking of the bread as much more than a mere military “messiah.” Jesus is the Crucified and Risen Messiah, the Lord of life, the Conqueror of death, the Alpha and Omega who will redeem Israel and all of creation and make all things new!

Review dlarsen16 (verified owner) – :
I have a few reviews here but this line of theme crosses help me to pray. This theme cross reminds me of a monstrance that holds the host, Christ, for our Eucharistic adoration. This is an old famous design of an Irish,French or Scottish cross. Christ is on this one in more of a ressurected position than in one of extreme pain. The victory over sin and death has been achieved in Christ and in him alone. The cruciform halo indicates this pure and Holy, sacrificial victory. This halo perhaps is indicative of the Holy Host we receive at each and every Holy Mass. I think a good static image has more value for our imagination than watching a hundred well produced motion pictures.
