Product Description
This beautiful Let the Children Come to Me Wall Cross made of solid bronze is a poignant reminder of one of Jesus’ many exhortations for us to be like children in order to enter the kingdom of heaven. At 3.5″ x 3″, it is an understated size and is perfectly at home anywhere from your child’s bedroom to a classroom to a kitchen. It is also light enough (5 ounces, about the weight of a small smartphone) to be worn as a pectoral cross. For ease of hanging, the cross features a small eyelet that extends perpendicular to the cross on the back.
This cross has been most popular as a baptism gift, first communion gift, and as a Christian gift for new parents. It also serves as a perfect addition to the home or office of anyone who wishes to focus on the challenge of becoming as a child.
A Reminder to Live Like a Child
There are many points in the Gospels where Jesus points to children as a model for us, but this cross specifically depicts Matthew 19:13-15:
Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
The cross depicts Jesus embracing the children, while the disciples who rebuked the people who brought the children to Jesus look on. It is important to note that right before this event occurs, Jesus is discussing the finer points of Mosaic law with the disciples. It is this juxtaposition of elements that shows the true importance of being like a child. Instead of the endless philosophic and linguistic fine distinctions of adults, it is in the simple joy, wonderment, trust, and love of children that we find the closest analogue to what we must become in order to be closer to God.
