King Balthazar is one of the Three Wise Men or Three Kings as they are sometimes called who travels from afar in the company of Gaspar and Melchior to meet this special child.  They sense the holy mystery of God touching His creation through a child.  This nativity comes to us from a contemplative monastic community in Europe and is handcrafted out of local stone and other local materials, such as wood.  It has been “harvested” from the earth.  The clay of the earth has allowed the artists to recreated an earthly gift into this fine sacred piece of art.
