Product Description
This is our beautiful Saint Martha of Bethany Plaque. Saint Martha is both the “distracted cook” and the “woman of faith.” She was the older sister of Mary (not Mary, the mother of Jesus) and the younger sister of Lazarus, whose resuscitation from the dead she witnessed firsthand. This bronze plaque is indeed a wonderful gift for a birthday, confirmation, first communion, or St. Martha’s feast day on July 29th.
A Bronze Wall Plaque in Three Sizes
Available in three sizes – small (p161k – 2.4 x 2 inches), medium (p52m – 4 x 3.25 inches) or large (p329g – 7.9 x 6.3 inches) – this plaque can be hung easily on the wall in your home or office. This solid bronze plaque was designed and forged in Germany by a bronze-smith of world renown. This is an especially appropriate gift for that special “Martha” in your life!
Saint Martha – Both Distracted Cook and Woman of Faith
Saint Martha was challenged by Jesus to “choose the better half” (that is, to attend to what was really important in life) when she complained about her sister Mary “slacking off” while she did ALL the cooking and dinner preparation (Luke 10:38-42). (Lucky for Jesus that she did not make him cook his own dinner!) But she also really stepped up and affirmed her belief that Jesus was the Christ, the Anointed One of God, the Messiah (John 11:17-27). Martha is then a model for us: an ordinary person immersed in the the everyday busyness of life who is nevertheless called to belief in the Jesus the Christ, the Resurrection and the Life.
