Our deeply touching St. Christopher Plaque (Greek: Χριστόφορος, Christóforos, literally, “Christ-bearer”) honors a martyr killed by the Roman Emperor Dacian (or Decius) around 250-300 a.d. He is the original “Christ-Bearer” (go to History/Story tab) and now the patron saint travelers, of wayfarers, travelers, motorists, drivers, and transportation workers. This solid bronze plaque is a most fitting gift for a birthday, confirmation, first communion, and St. Christopher’s feast day on July 25th.
A Solid Bronze Plaque in Three Sizes
Available in three sizes – small (p85k – 2 x 1.8 inches), medium (p70m – 4 x 3.25 inches) and large (p22g – 7.9 x 6.3 inches), this solid bronze plaque will hang with ease on any wall in your home or office. This plaque was conceived and cast in Germany by a master bronze-smith. This plaque is an excellent gift for that special “Chris” or “Christopher”in your life!
Christopher Bore Him Who Bore the Weight of the World
This solid bronze plaque depicts Saint Christopher holding his staff while fording a river with the Christ Child on his shoulder. The Christ Child is usually depicted (not here) carrying what looks like a ball. But it is no ball. Rather, it is the whole world! As the Christ Child tells Saint Christopher: “You had on your shoulders not only the whole world but Him who made it. I am Christ your king, whom you are serving by this work.” Even though very little is known about the historical Saint Christopher, he has been widely popular for a long time. In fact, in England, there are more wall paintings of St. Christopher than of any other saint, the Virgin Mary excepted!
