This Traditional Saint Michael the Archangel Icon ( מִיכָאֵל – Micha’el – Hebrew: “Who is like God?”) is the only “archangel” explicitly referred to such in the New Testament (Jude 1:9). The Archangel Michael is the patron saint of law enforcement and police officers. This hand written icon measures 8 x 10 inches. Michael – Saint and “Archangel”
An “archangel” (in Greek, ἀρχάγγελος) is an “angel of higher rank” (arch- + angel, literally chief angel). Michael, Gabriel and Raphael are the three archangels venerated in the Orthodox and Roman Catholic traditions on September 29th. The Saint Michael the Archangel Contemporary Icon depicts the Archangel Michael casting out of Heaven the great dragon, Satan (Revelation 12:7-9). In his right hand Michael grasps his fiery sword (Genesis 3:24). In his left hand, Michael grasps his lance and is poised to thrust it into the dragon.
