An Heirloom-Quality Sacred Heart Cross
At the center of this 4.5 inch bronze cross is an enamel inlay design of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Radiating from the center of the Sacred Heart on all four sides are fleur-de-lis.
This cross makes for an especially meaningful Christian gift because of the deep life of the symbols depicted on it. First, at the center of the cross is a Sacred Heart. Many Christians are drawn to this image of Christ’s ceaseless love. Devotion to the Sacred Heart is one of the most popular devotions in the Catholic Church, with its emphasis on the heart of Jesus as a representation of his Divine Love.

Surrounding the Sacred Heart of Jesus, on each side, are four fleur-de-lis symbols. The fleur-de-lis enjoys a long and complex history in France and Europe. Until about 1300, the fleur-de-Lis was exclusively associated with Jesus, but as time went by, more and more with Mary who is the “lily among thorns” (Song of Songs 2:2). Since the lily was viewed as a symbol of purity and chastity, the fleur-de-lis was increasingly considered to represent the Virgin Mary. The three Persons of the Holy Trinity are symbolized by the three petals of the fleur-de-lis. Mary is the band which binds the three petals together.
