Product Description
The Third Glorious Mystery – The Descent of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost plaque depicts the fulfillment of the promise Jesus made to his disciples that he would never abandon them and would send them an “advocate” to be with them forever (John 14:12-21). This “Advocate” (or “Paraclete”) is God’s own Holy Spirit who descended upon the gathered apostles as if in tongues of fire. The day of Pentecost is the birthday of the Church! This descent of the Holy Spirit means that Jesus has now not only overcome death, but also transcended the limits of time and space in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is present throughout all of time and in every place. God’s Presence through the Risen Jesus in the Holy Spirit is now absolutely definitive, irreversible and irrevocable in every time and every place. The Descent of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost plaque is then a most fitting gift – especially as part of the complete set of plaques of the Mysteries of the Rosary – for a retreat house, hospice, hospital, convent, monastery, parish, or school.
The Descent of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Plaque – An Exquisite Labor of Love, Faith, and Hope
The Descent of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost plaque is 8.25 inches high, 6.75 inches wide, and 1 inch thick. A community of cloistered religious sisters in a French monastery create, fashion from dolomite stone and resin, and finish by hand this plaque in their atelier. Each member of the community prayerfully completes an assigned task required for the completion of every plaque. How, where, and by whom The Descent of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost plaque is created gives proof to how profoundly ”culturally authentic” – and what an exquisite labor of love, faith and hope this plaque is!
The Promise of the “Advocate” or “Paraclete” (John 14:12-21)
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. “If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
Fulfillment of this Promise: The Descent of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4)
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
