Can the real Messiah be defeated, much less crucified?
A “Crucified Messiah” was an unimaginable concept. The two disciples going to Emmaus certainly thought so, telling their mysterious travel companion that “Jesus of Nazareth was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel” (Luke 24:19-24). “We had hoped…” The subtext here: How could the real Messiah, when he came, ever be humiliated, crucified and killed? He would surely be a master who would crush the Romans, free Israel and inaugurate a new Messianic era for the Jewish people! The Risen Jesus replied to the two disciples simply by revealing himself in the breaking of the bread. He is much more than a mere military “messiah” ever could be. Jesus is the Crucified and Risen Messiah, Conqueror of Death, the Lord of Life, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, who will now redeem creation to make all things new.

A gently depicted Jesus on the Cross forgiving us so we can forgive one another of sin. Most crucifixes are simply mass produced and not very inspiring. Creator Mundi is the place to buy inspiring Sacred art. This French cross is a work of art as a stationary wall cross or a portable inspiration to have with you when traveling.
